BUT...WHY?
Because it is 2025, and currently 821 million people across the world suffer from malnourishment. Yet 40% of crops are lost globally from plant diseases and pests. Additionally, the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal (SGD) 2 is working towards achieving the creation of a world free of hunger by 2030. The number of people suffering from food insecurity and malnutrition has only been increasing since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to SGD 2, the number of people worldwide experiencing hunger increased by 161 million from 2019-2020.
The goal of the Ceres Organization is to help reach SGD 2 to help develop a world without world hunger or malnourishment. The Ceres Organization aims to do this via the implementation of Ceres research (to allow for early detection of diseases to save crop yields) and via raising awareness for the food insecurity crisis. This includes hosting food insecurity summits and developing education programs for STEM.
